In the 12th century, the Tulja Bhavani Temple is one of the
important Hindu pilgrimage centers in Maharashtra. Tulja Bhavani Temple has
located 45 km from Solapur in Maharashtra. It is said that any mention of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
is incomplete without mentioning his immense homage to Tulja Bhavani Devi. Not just Shivaji, many royal families were firm believers in
Tulja Bhavani Devi. It is located in Tuljapur in Osmanabad district of
Maharashtra and is considered as one of the Shakti Peeth. A three-foot-tall granite statue of Bhavani Devi is adorned
in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The eight hands of the goddess are different in each.
The goddess Tulja Bhavani Devi is also known as Amba Devi. There are two entrances to the main sanctum, the Raja
Shahaji Mahadwar, and the Rajmata Jijau. When entering the temple, tourists visit Markandeya Rishi
Temple and Yajna Kund. Around the sanctuary of the temple is surrounded by many
other temples such as Adishakti Matangdevi Temple, Siddhi Vinayak Temple, and
Annapurna Temple. The history behind the temple is this Afzal Khan destroyed
the image of Tulja Bhavani to hurt the spirit of Hindus and to provoke war. That is why Afzal Khan died at Pratapgad due to revenge. The history of the temple is briefly mentioned in 'Skanda
Purana'. Other than, Tulja Bhavani is considered to be one of the
'Shakti Peethas' of the Goddess Durga. Besides, many royal families in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra
